Fashion Design Artist, Yemisi Sanni is a transplant from Lagos, Nigeria who settled in Indianapolis, Indiana with her family. She is on the cusp of graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design, with a major in Fashion Design, a minor in Fashion Marketing and Management, and a second minor in User Experience Design. Her design journey began at the age of 14, when she began teaching herself to sew her own clothes out of creative curiosity and an innate love of fashion. She has since developed this skill by using fashion as a tool to serve others.

Yemisi is a Yorùbá native of Lagos, Nigeria; a tribe that values art and where fashion is a cultural tradition. Her mother, a fabric merchant, and her culture sparked her interest in fashion. Her childhood memories are woven together by being surrounded by an incredible array of beautiful African and European textiles.

Yemisi grew up in a culture that celebrated every stage of life, from birth to death and everything in between. Each of these occasions is marked by family and friends dressed in a common fabric, most likely chosen by the family matriarch. She was constantly amazed at how everyone chose to design and style their own garments by local artisans. At the same time, influences such as Hip-Hop/R&B music, Hollywood, and Bollywood shaped her childhood. These experiences forged within Yemisi and cultivated her love of fashion as an art form.

Her experience in the fashion industry has led her on a journey of self-discovery that is still ongoing. Yemisi is driven by the desire to do more with her talents and skills, and she continues to push herself to new heights. As creative craftswoman, she is emerging as a true Fashion Design Artist. Her designs and styles continue to evolve as the fashion industry embraces ethnicity and cultural influences in fashion.
